TODAY I’m LOOKING INTO another (or in this case two) of those books proposing to rewrite history and/or religion as we (or at least me) knows it.

THE RETURN OF THE REBEL ANGELS

Is by Timothy Wyllie

Wyllie has written several books with other authors.  His own works include:  Dolphins, ETs, and Angels: Adventures Among Spiritual Intelligences       (interesting combination that!)

Confessions of a Rebel Angel: The Wisdom of the Watchers and the Destiny of Planet Earth       (We definitely are beginning to detect an Angel theme here)

The Return of the Rebel Angels: The Urantia Mysteries and the Coming of the Light       (and rebellious ones at that)

There are several more books with the angel topic including The Revolt and Exile as well as teachings about.    http://www.goodreads.com/author/list/202255.Timothy_Wyllie

Timothy Wyllie

Timothy Wyllie was born in Great Britain in 1940 and raised in London….he qualified as an architect. …In the late 70s, Timothy began a systematic exploration of out-of-body states. This led to experiments in telepathic communication with dolphins and an open invitation to contact with nonphysical beings that continues to this day. During this time, he was also running his own business in New Your City, marketing a system he had co-devised for storing and filing color photographs. He retired from the business community in 1981 and turned full time to his creative endeavors.  In addition to his writing he is a musician and painter who specializes in sacred landscapes.    http://www.innertraditions.com/Contributor.jmdx?action=displayDetail&id=607

In this particular book Mr. Wyllie explores text recorded in

THE URANTIA BOOK  (http://www.urantia.org/urantia-book-standardized/paper-37-personalities-local-universe)

is a spiritual and philosophical book that originated in Chicago sometime between 1924 and 1955. The authorship remains a matter of speculation….”Urantia” as the name of the planet Earth and state that their intent is to “present enlarged concepts and advanced truth.” The book aims to unite religion, science and philosophy, and its enormous amount of material about science is unique among literature claimed to be presented by celestial beings.   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Urantia_Book

This book (see the example at  top) is very involved and reminds me of some of the delusions some of my very disturbed psychiatric patient had developed over time.  It rapidly becomes over powering as to its detail and I have a mind that likes details.

So his work is based on a book of unknown author that is of purportedly “celestial origin”.  OK I’m convinced.

Supposedly the book was recorded two hundred millennia ago when 37 planet (including ours) were quarantined to quell the spread of Lucifer’s rebellion within the angel hierarchy.

MR WYLLIE’S BOOK

The latest update is  the angels have now been forgiven (something I am assuming that Mr. Wyllie has been notified of by his celestial contacts) and our contact (Earth) with the Multiverse is being restored.  Wyllie investigates the underlying motives of the angelic rebellion and the impact it has had on our planet for the last 200,000 years–I wander if the dinosaur disappearance is explain by this?  He does predict an optimism for our future and a gentle spiritual transition which is more than I can say for most prophets.

I will leave you to decide this one yourself, but I am not adding it to my  must read list.

GREY ALIENS AND THE HARVESTING OF SOULS

The conspiracy to Genetically Tamper with Humanity

By Nigel Kerner.

First I’m glad to see we have moved from the  green standard, but as I may have said before why are we always so attractive to the universe for experimentation.

NIGEL KERNER

Nigel is an author and freelance journalist. He was born in Sri Lanka, his mother from a British planting family and his father an officer in the British Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm. This international family base provided the background for an obsessive and serious interest in international human affairs and how these interface with science, religion, and philosophy.  http://www.nigelkerner.com/Biography.html  Interestingly enough there is nothing on him at any source that I could find that isn’t directly quoted from his official site  and you know how I distrust personal official sites.  I mean for all we know he could be grey!

HIS BOOK

His fascination with the puzzling and enigmatic phenomenon of UFOs resulted in his first book ‘The Song of the Greys’ published by Hodder & Stoughton in 1997. This serious work on the subject is now noted world-wide for its radical view on the phenomenon. His latest book, ‘Grey Aliens and the Harvesting of Souls’ published by Inner Traditions/Bear & Company is the second in a trilogy about the UFO phenomenon and its social repercussions on humanity. His books and numerous articles have established his unique thesis as part of the canon of serious literature on the subject. Again from his official site.  I can only conclude that he  isn’t as WORLD WIDE NOTED as he assumes he is  or I would have found more the web.

Finally through manipulation  of  human  DNA these non-green aliens (is grey a color?) are working on creating  souls for themselves.   They  don’t seem to be very good at this process as they have been working on it since biblical times and he insists that they are responsible  for many of our negative qualities such as greed and violence.  But we can escape them by aiming for enlightenment and raising above the material,

Sorry but haven’t I heard this somewhere before except it was starring a Fallen Angel—Skipping this one too I’m afraid,

MESSY KITCHENS

Clean and keep safe by:

Using disinfectants for cleaning counters after working with raw meat and poultry.  Get  product that is effective, but non aerosol–you don’t need the product airborne.

Using self sticking paper shelf liners that are water proof, if mold develops you will have to change the paper not shelf.

Pick a garbage can with a lid to keep odors and spores in.  Empty it daily.

Washing dishrags (longer lasting than sponges) regularly (at least 3 times  week) after using for washing dishes and counters.

Avoid ANTIBTERIAL  SPONGES which likely are treated with chemical that irritate skin and maybe environmentally harmful.

PICTURES

Kid’s photos:  Mount on stiff cardboard with double stick tape, leaving 1/4″ margin all around.  Glue wooden pencils around the margin for a nice school theme.

Have frames that don’ match, just spray-paint them all one color—lots of choices here, flat paint, glossy and lots of metallic just depends where you want to put them and your ongoing themes.

Have a frame you love but it’s wobbly–Drive two staples (with stable gun) across the back of each mitered joint.

or get some shallow wicker baskets large or small enough for each picture out and cut out bottom for picture, attach picture and hang on wall or set up alone or in groups on shelves or tables for a dramatic effect….you can paint the baskets first to have an even different effect.

READING OMENS

“A ring around the moon is a sign of bad weather.  The old woman who dwells there is putting a hood over her head, a white hood for frost or snow and a black one for rain or a sudden thaw.–Ojibwa omen

Our ancestors paid close attention to the natural world, but most of us now spend too much time indoor, watching TV , putting thing on Face Book and generally not seeing much that’s more than a few arms-lengths away.

Creating awareness of the season:

Go outside

Take in and note all the characteristic:  weather, foliage, birds, and animals, temperature etc.

What best represent the present season?  Pick only a couple.

Look for signs of past seasons and the indications that his season sprang from the last.

Also for signs of the next.

Best done in the same area and over multiple sessions.  Don’t over think, just feel and let yourself understand.

Weather omens are fairly simple..the rainbow indicates the rain will stop and thus became a good omen…it has in fact become an international good luck symbol.  The Iroquois noted that lots of husk on a ear of corn means a cold winter and the same was true of well furred feet on skunks and coons.

AND HERE WE GO AGAIN:

YUMMY  and Jamie and Claire are Catholic by the way

SINCE IT’S LENT TODAY:

Lent is a 40-day period of preparation for Easter Sunday and one of the major liturgical seasons of the Catholic Church. A penitential season marked by prayer, fasting and abstinence, and almsgiving, Lent begins on either Ash Wednesday (for Latin Rite Catholics and those Protestants who observe Lent) or Clean Monday (for Eastern Rite Catholics and Eastern Orthodox) and ends on either Holy Thursday or Holy Saturday. (For more details, see When Does Lent End?)  huh????  http://catholicism.about.com/od/Catholic-Dictionary/g/Lent-Definition-Of-Lent.htm

OK first let me confess (sorry) I am not a Catholic, in fact I was raised in a faith that had little use for all the rites and traditions which they had passed along for year.  I am now a self confessed (sorry again) searcher into the legends and traditions that we (people in general) live with and by, but with no faith in them other than a link to our past.

Saying that I do pride myself in accepting the beliefs of others and respecting the same.  My theory is if it does not harm others then I have no problems with it and have taken part in many religious events and ceremonies which I feel are a positive influence in the world today.

So what or where is the word from?  It appears to have gotten it’s current (English) meaning late 14c., short for Lenten (n.) “forty days before Easter”

However in the 12th century (early 12c.), from Old English lencten “springtime, spring,” the season, also “the fast of Lent,”  it had a broader meaning.

Leave the English:  from West Germanic *langa-tinaz “long-days”, cognate with Old Church Slavonic dini, Lithuanian diena, Latin dies “day”   It probably refers to increasing daylight and there are similar form evolution in Dutch lente and German Lenz  “spring.” It is interesting to note that the religious definition of “period between Ash Wednesday and Easter” is peculiar to English.

http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?term=Lent

A penitential season marked by prayer, fasting and abstinence, and almsgiving, Lent begins on either Ash Wednesday

The 40 days of Lent is traditionally described as lasting for forty days, in commemoration of the forty days which, according to the Gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke, Jesus spent, before beginning his public ministry, fasting in the desert, where he endured temptation by the Devilhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lent

Many scholars believe that the current 40 days was developed after the Conference of Nicea  early in the 4th century AD in a effort to determine when festivals etc were to be celebrated and how. http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=3&ved=0CC4QFjAC&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.baylor.edu%2Fcontent%2Fservices%2Fdocument.php%2F193181.pdf&ei=gq3kVPnQKIjEggSmlYLYDw&usg=AFQjCNE1xuNsrx62xrkc78-03xUv71fA8w&sig2=RSQpmIg2jCi9b9EoJyOYZw

During some Ash Wednesday services, the minister will lightly rub the sign of the cross with ashes onto the foreheads of worshipers. The use of ashes as a sign of mortality and repentance has a long history in Jewish and Christian worship. Historically, ashes signified purification and sorrow for sins.  http://www.umc.org/what-we-believe/why-ashes-on-ash-Wednesday

The ashes used on Ash Wednesday are made by burning the palm crosses that were blessed on the previous year’s Palm Sunday.  or Ashes can also be bought from Church suppliers. A bag of ashes big enough for 1000 people costs around £8 (around $16).  http://www.bbc.co.uk/religion/religions/christianity/holydays/lent_1.shtml

A number of passages in the Old Testament connect ashes (efer) with mourning, and we are told that the mourner sat or rolled himself in, sprinkled his head or mingled his food with, “ashes”, but it is not clear whether in these passages we ought not rather to translate efer as dust. The same phrases are used with the word afar which certainly means dust. It may be that the dust was originally taken from the grave, in token that the living felt himself one with the dead, or it may be that humiliation and the neglect of personal cleanliness constituted the dominant idea; for a similar manifestation of grief was undoubtedly familiar among Aryan peoples, e.g. in Homer (Iliad, XVIII, 23).   http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/01776c.htm

WHERE ELSE COULD YOU FIND A SECLUDED VALLEY IN FLORIDA?

One more day and then the decline into the horror of covering the plants anticipated for Thurs night.

so I’ll cheer up with Jamie:

If you want to see why he’s so content check his one out–too OMG for this site:    http://www.mybookmuse.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/tumblr_ncmloxDGiG1qasftio1_500.gif

OK my friends think I’m like way over the top with this Scottish thing…really it’s just Jamie/Sam—but to make them happy Our FLORIDA PLACES today is Glencoe in Volusia County.

No not that glen–in the Highlands of Scotland–now beautiful and peaceful but once the sight of a British and their allies the Campbells attack on the local Scotts. It’s latest claim to fame is that it was featured in Harry Potter movies.  Glen by the way means secluded valleyhttp://www.glencoescotland.com/

OUR GLENCOE is located near New Smyrna Beach–someplace I spent time this last weekend for the Art Festival….but that’s a whole other story.

It is designated as a “population-area” with about 2,500 people.

GLENCOE is named (in 1878) for one of it’s settler William H. Coe.    There had been other settlers to the area in the 1860s and Coe and his family did not arrive until 1874, the Senior Coe died in 1879.  At the time of his death he was a custom’s inspector for the port of New Smyrna.

His son W.A. Coe was later postmaster and his other son Charles H. started the first news paper in Florida south of St. Augustine in 1877.  Charles left shortly after his father’s death, but William and his mother remained in the area until 1890 when they sold out and went to join Charles in North Carolina.
Glencoe, Florida. Founder & family history.'s photo.

Glencoe is basically residential and except for a Humane Society doesn’t have much of interest to anyone except a few realtors today.

Other Glencoes in Florida (in addition to a Glencoe Farm Rd also in New Smyrna area):

A Road in Winter Park:  Lovely homes in a rich town.

and Street of the same name in Miami’s Coconut Grove.  Glencoe graces byways in Dunedin (now that’s a Scot name) and Temple Terrace as well.

But back to the New Smyrna area:

I even found a haunting in the Glencoe area:

800px-New_Smyrna_Sugar_Mill_Ruins03

This ruined sugar mil (600 Old Mission Road) which was built about 1830  and destroyed by Indians a five years later.  Later during the war that result from the attacks troops were stationed here.  The mill which is a park open to the public and is on the National Register of Historic Sights, is said to be haunted by Indians who run through the woods in the early morning and by “shadow people”   who appear near sunset.  http://www.hauntedplaces.org/item/new-smyrna-sugar-mill-ruins/

TODAY IS ONE OF MY HELPFUL HINT DAYS:

JELLY FISH ARE BEAUTIFUL—but in Florida (and any beach front area) they are often a problem with stepping on or children picking up.   A jelly fish sting is painful.  So what do you do?  (From Reader’s Digest PRACTICAL PROBLEM SOLVERS)

1.  Rinse the skin with alcohol–rubbing is fine but any alcohol (including the kind you drink like vodka–not beer or wine),

or vinegar

or diluted ammonia

Don’t have any get wet beach sand and apply it.

other items that work are

papaya or meat tenderizer (be sure not to add water to these)

2.  Remove the tentacles still stuck to skin with tweezers or gloved hands (never touch with bare hands)

3.  After it’s clean an over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream can be applied regularly.

4.  Take an over the counter medication like acetaminophen (not aspirin it causes bleeding which is a problem with these stings.) for pain

5.  You may want to see a doctor just to be sure everything is OK and especially if you have dizziness, nausea and/or vomiting.

PROBLEMS WITH JEWELRY–another beauty that causes problems for some.

Ear Piercing—Be careful who does this for you–be sure they have a sterile procedure–use stainless-steel needles.  To avoid allergic reactions use only stainless steel posts until the ear has healed.

Reactions to rings, earrings, metal eyeglass frames….  clean the metal with rubbing alcohol and cover with clear fingernail polish all parts that touch the skin.

If you have continued reaction to a lot of jewelry you may be allergic to nickel which is used in most US (but not all European) jewelry.  You might try to wear other metals—like cooper or try non-metal or some European made items.

CAR AND MOTION SICKNESS–seen a lot in children some adults have it too.    (THE COMPLETE BOOK OF ESSENTIAL OILS & AROMATHRAPY/Valrie Ann Worwood)

Peppermint Oil is a natural alternative Just a drop in a cup of hot water (with sugar to taste) sipped slowly before the trip should help.  Children may use (adults too) a “mere smear” of peppermint on a sugar cube.  (you can make these up in advance and bring them with you in a plastic bag just in case).

Ginger oil (also very good for seasickness) can be used–put two drops on a hankerchief and inhaled works.

Look at an unmoving object on the horizon or close your eyes also helps.

Other travel natural tips:

Lavender, eucalyptus or peppermint oil (just one drop) on one or two cotton balls on the rear window shelf can make an uncomfortable trip a bit easier but won’t make the driver sleepy.

Basil oil (2 drops in morning bath or on a facecloth rubbed over the body after a shower) will help sharpen concentration and keep the driver alert.

HOME POLLUTION avoid it with some simple indoor solutions

BAKING SODA:  Use it with water instead of ammonia-based cleansers

and use 1/4 cup baking soda with 1/4 cup vinegar instead of commercial drain cleaners

NON TOXIC WATER BASED  glue and  marker for arts, crafts and other home uses

http://www.broward.org/POLLUTIONPREVENTION/HAZMAT/Pages/PollutionPreventionatHome.aspx

Crack a window:  Yes I know it’ freezing, but you need clean, new oxygen.  If your body doesn’t get enough you find yourself tired and lethargic.   This is especially true in your bedrooms.  Try opening that window just 5-10 min when you wake in the morning and again just before going to bed at night.  This lets out carbon dioxide as well as bringing in oxygen and avoids cooling off the entire house.       http://www.prevention.com/health/healthy-living/preventing-air-pollution-your-home

Houseplants reduce indoor air pollution naturally.  They remove toxins and look good doing it.  The most effective:  Boston Ferns, Spider plants, English Ivy, Areca Palm and Peace Lilly–to be really effective you need 2 plants per hundred square feet.  Http://www.homeadvisor.com/article.show.6-Steps-to-Prevent-Indoor-Air-Pollution-in-Your-Home.10542.html#ixzz3RvXIgYG6a

OK a look at Florida for the weird (Friday the 13th) and the wonderful (Valentine’s the 14th).

LOVEDALE

Map of lovedale florida

Not only isn’t Lovedale a town (it’s described as a population center in Jackson County) but it’s not even romantic (It was named for a church and school of that name almost 100 years ago).

THE DEVIL’S CIRCLE

Near Black Water Creek (east Lake Co.) is this bare circle spot (about 40 feet across) where nothing will grow although there’s greenery everywhere else.  There’s been theories:  High acid soil content or some type of infestation.  The first record of the area, which is far back in the swamp and not near any roadways, was in the 1950s from bear hunters who first told of the strange bleak spot.

KISSIMMEE

They’re not sure where this name came from, perhaps a Seminole word(s) meaning mulberries–yonder.  It was originally spelled Cacema Town and then Casseeme –the folk legend says that an Indian brave tells his lady lover how beautiful she is and she replies “Well kiss-I-me.”  The city is the county seat of Osceola County.

TAMPA’S DEVIL ZONE

This area of Tampa Bay starting at Egmont Key and extending just past the Skyline Bridge (approx. 12 sq. miles) is thought to be some type of Bermuda Triangle due to its above average numbers of everything from engine failures, navigation devices failure, and even sightings of  strange things, not to mention UFOs and deaths from every thing from accidents to suicides.

LAND OF ROMANCE AND LAND OF FLOWERS

Names used to describe the state.

THE WICKEST CITY IN AMERICA

Or so they called the port city of ST. JOSEPH in western Florida in the 1840’s.  The town was known for its gambling, brothels, and saloons not to mention the mayham and deaths that also plagued the town.  It may have seemed like the wrath of God when, in 1841,  first a yellow fever epidemic (July) and then a forest fire (Sept) burnt down the town.  But it revived (along with 3 new cemeteries) before the hurricane struck in September 1848 with its tidal wave that buried the town under acres of sand.

RAINBOW SPRINGS

A place in Marion Co. named for the “many-colored” appearance of the water at certain times.

CHULUOLTA LIGHTS

CHULUOLTA is another population center in Seminole (near Oviedo) with a debate as to what the name means.  One theory is “fox den” and the other “pine island”.  The area is also known for “ghost lights” which are seen in the marshy grounds about the area.    Their colors vary from blush to green.

ROMEO AND JULIETTE

Romeo is north of Dunnellon, about 4 miles on hwy 41  Juliette was located abt. 2 miles n. of Dunnellon and abt. 2 miles s. of Romeo
REMAINS: There is a store, but not from the period.   There is nothing at the site of Juliette.

Both were settled in the 1850s.  Legend has it that the towns were the home of two star kissed lovers that suffered the same fate as the Elizabethan play which makes a nice addition for this blog but probably is just an early urban legend.

DEVIL’S MILLHOPPER

Near Gainesville sets a 120′ deep hole full of water that according to some just opened up in the 1800’s, swallowing trees, rocks and possibly one unsuspecting bystander.  It’s been called lots of things usually associated with evil and the Devil himself. ON VALENTINE’S A WOMAN’S MIND TURNS TO JEWELRY–REALLY NICE JEWELRY

Chilly but warming to low 70s today and then colder for awhile….burrrrr

and I’ll warm up looking at:

only thing hotter than a Scot in a kilt is a Scot without

It’s almost Valentines, and so jewelry is a hot option for and beats flowers and candies hands down.  So today let’s look at COCKTAIL RINGS (An oversized ladies’ ring with a large center stone often surrounded by tiny stones. Nearly any oversized ladies’ ring may be termed “cocktail”. This is the most common type of costume jewellery ring and is also known as a cluster ring and dinner ring. ) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ring_(jewellery)

GOLD AND SAPPHIRE CLUSTER DOME COCKTAIL RING:  14K yellow gold, round pink sapphires clustered in oval dome, size 4.75—SOLD AUCTION $270.
What woman wouldn’t feel glamorous with one of these sparkling cocktail ring on her finger.

Alternative Engagement Ring, Gold Plated Silver Ring, Cocktail Ring  $198.00

“Nothing says “party hearty” like a big showy cocktail ring.” (Kovels/Oct. 2014).
Vintage 14 Karat Yellow Gold Diamond Opal Cocktail Ring

$495.00
The cocktail ring has an interesting little history. The term was born in the 1920s in America, during the Prohibition Period. Commercial sale of alcohol was banned and as you would suspect there was a revolution against this. The result was the birth of the fabulous culture of underground cocktail parties.   http://www.larsenjewellery.com.au/blog/83/history-of-the-cocktail-ring
14K Rose Gold Morganite & Diamond Vintage Cocktail Ring:

$599.99
By the 1940s and 1950s, cocktail rings were no longer associated with illicit activities and became a staple worn to dinner parties and elegant events. Stars wearing cocktail rings at glamorous functions, like the Oscars, increased their popularity.
Chanel Vintage 18k White Gold Diamond Cocktail Ring

$3,800.00

this right-hand ring was closely linked to women’s emancipation. After World War I, women began to assert their individuality and progressive independence. This was often a ring the woman bought for herself, rather than the engagement ring—traditionally bought by the husband-to-be. Thus the “right-hand ring” was much more associated with the wearer’s actual character and personality, and this was the Jazz Age—women’s fashion had changed as had hairstyles, and so the enormous bauble was part of a new attitude.   http://www.wsj.com/articles/SB10001424052702303618904579169642482282358

Vintage Aquamarine Diamond Cocktail Ring

$5,895.00

Deliberately oversized, these showy baubles were meant to draw the eye to the hand, where impossibly large fake diamonds and other surrogate stones reflected and refracted the light.     http://www.collectorsweekly.com/costume-jewelry/rings

$5,899.00

With a high-class look and eye-catching appeal, celebrities like Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Lopez enjoy wearing cocktail rings during interviews and evening talk shows. The cocktail ring has also been seen regularly on runways all over the world from such designers as Versace and BCBG Max Azria and in popular fashion magazines including ELLE and Lucky.   http://www.firemountaingems.com/encyclobeadia/beading_resources.asp?docid=b935

SPECIAL ITEM FOR THE DAY;
ART DECO EMERALD & DIAMOND RING
It features a sugarloaf cut that maximizes the color of the emerald.  the other beautiful detail is the hexagonal cut diamonds.
Estimated worth $70,000 – $90,000.

Will the people in the cheaper seats clap your hands? And the rest of you, if you’ll just rattle your jewelry.

TRIED IT ALL—HOW ABOUT A VAMPIRE FOR VALENTINES?

out and about at my part time job today….just getting a chance for the blog late now.

MY VALENTINE: RTR4KSNX Check this out for OUTLANDER’S VALENTINE’S INFORMATION:  http://au.ibtimes.com/outlander-tv-series-valentine-love-lessons-castle-leoch-1419799

Yes Vampires…they have become such a hot item—Keefer Southerland did a Vampire with his own teen peer group in Lost Boys….Long before his TV stints of 24-hours. and though Vampires have been interwoven with our ancient history from the earliest recorded times they were just dark legends, things that went bump in the night and that became less believable as we became more…ah…civilized.  But with this civilization came war and disaster and those things in the night continued to stir just at the corner of our vision, causing a bit of the old uncivilized to shine through.    My blame on the modern vampire craze goes to Bram Stoker who used the name of a man who in his own lands is thought of as a hero, but who has become interchangeable with evil and those uncivilized things that watch us from the shadows. Then came the early movies and the vampire made his debut in the silent genre with a creature that was truly scary and unless you have a thing for weird ears, untrimmed nails and check out those teeth, definitely needs a dentist. The 30’s found us with the man who made Dracula and vise  versa….while not exactly sexy, we did get a classical and much more appealing image that the silent one.   OTHER actors did one or more performances of the evil creature that came out of the night and seemed more and more to prefer women.  who in turn often were seen as completely under the power of the blood thirsty beast. and if you can’t draw sexual symbolism from that please go and read somebody else’s blog. I blame this vampire   later played by this man:  as responsible for making Vampires as a sympathetic (or in Depp’s case a comic) character for probably the first time and he did it 5 days a week in a soap opera format that was previously reserved for “our stories”.  We began to see the vampire as a poor unfortunate that due to another (usually much more evil and less sympathetic) vampire’s even intent. and now we have vampires for every season and every taste TRAILER TRASH VAMPIRES for those who want the baser beings (and a shape shifter that turns in to a dog–REALLY!) or have red neck phantasies.  This show had a nice run on HBO with lots of sex and blood  and was mentioned by Rizzoli(Rozzoil & Isles) as just that Trailer Trash vampires, it did add a new dimension to the legends. TWILIGHT for the kids and those who can’t handle more mature creatures…The movies weren’t critically acclaimed but they did a lot to add the teeny set to the vampire ranks–though the number of 40 year old woman that found this series sexy was down right scary all in itself….and  it amazes me that nobody thought it was weird for this girl to get involved with a 90 year old vampire just because he went to high school and like all vampires don’t show physical aging after their conversion.   BLADE:  the hot black is beautifu vampire that was really a half breed and killed vampires who were becoming a powerful influence in these movies (3).  Don’t know if he counts and the movies more action pictures than truly scary were fun to watch none the less. MOONLIGHT–For the woman that enjoys hot guys and cops.  The show is gone and the actor is now in Hawaii, obviously over the vampire thing.  It was a short running TV show but showed that you can have a hard working, law abiding vampire if you wanted one. ANN RICE–you can’t mention the vampire craze without this author’s series–and  this movie which starred Pitt and Cruise as vampires…it was not one of my favorites–Rice always has one whinny character in each book (in this one it was Pitt) and I just never got past Cruise with the blonde hair.  This one was a bizarre affair of lost love and children vampires that mature mentally but not physically and all kinds of items that you might want to look into before you actually want to take up with one. and there have been lots of women vampire   From ageless children To kick butt warriors and even prom queens   and dark queens   and slayers Pre-presidential and pre-marriage some in both movie and TV issue and those princes of evil or misunderstood beings (which every) that raise lust and love in the breast of many reader are continuing to be produced in movies and to an even greater extent in books. Feehan In her series about Carpathians (sun sensitive who sleep in the earth)–living beings who after hundreds of years of life–loose their feelings, sense of color etc. if they do not find their mate and after years of this non-feeling they may turn to the murder of humans to gain emotions through the blood of their victims and in doing so become vampire–hated and hunted by their former families and friends.   Feehan is considered to be one of the foundations of the modern Vampire fiction and popularity.  so instead of denying that creature that has so long lurked in the shadows and haunted our dreams and fears, we have brought him and/or her into our entertainment, fantasies, and games.  So tell me does this make us more civilized or less? DSCN0212 I’m not afraid of werewolves or vampires or haunted hotels, I’m afraid of what real human beings to do other real human beings.

THE REST OF THE WEEK I THOUGHT IN HONOR OF VALENTINE’S  WE’D LOOK AT LOVE….

TODAY WE’LL DO MYSTICAL AND MAGICAL CHOICES

IN LOVE WITH AN ARIES (3/21-4/21)

MALE ARIANS:  These natural leaders need a woman who will let him do the chasing but its a fine line as he won’t take well to a clinging female.   He’s the kind of man who is attracted to woman who are already in relationships since this seems to appeal to his goals to triumphing over his adversaries and winning prizes.

FEMALE ARIANS:   You find her working at law, journalism, medicine and architectural career most often.  She’ll pay more attention if she thinks you’re not interested.  As a lover she is loyal, but get ready to share each and every one of her sorrows and joys.    She will possess you totally but don’t expect the same from her.

MAGIC FOR LOVERS/Kathleen McCormack

WANT A FAIRY LOVER?  According to Chinese legends Mountain Fairies are irresistible.  Legends abound about them (with common themes in Europe) that human that enter their domain feel as if only a short time has passed since they joined their lover but if they leave they find themselves  many years beyond when they left, with all friends and families long gone.  I’m not sure if they are hardened to the lover or if they do not fully realize the situation or perhaps they have no concept that the lover would ever think to leave them.   Many mythical lovers seem to be hard on us mortals as Mermaids (& Mermen)  are known  to pull human lovers beneath the sea with no regards to their need for oxygen.  (A FIELD GUIDE TO DEMONS…/Carol K. Mack and Dinah Mack)

GOTTA HAVE A GOD?  of all the gods of mythology I think Zeus comes to mind when it comes to sexual encounters.  Though married to Hera (earth goddess) he made love to numerous women in weird forms like a bull, a satyr, a swan and sometime just a lowly man.  The only problem with this is that Hera was a really jealous spouse–which her being a goddess put a whole new meaning to payback if you dared mess with her man and her wrath was known to extend to any off springs that came of your exotic interlude as well.

MYTHOLOGY/Arthur Cotterell

NEED SOME HELP GETTING THAT PERFECT MATE:   There are lots of potion formulas out there to attract that one you’re looking for…to make you desirable and magnetic.  But alas there’s no formula to make them stay (just like real life).  So these do not come with a money back clause.   But…there are other spells that might

Some I found:

TO BRING BACK AN UNFAITHFUL LOVER (involves elfwart root on St. John’s Eve)

TO MAKE A MAN WANT TO MARRY YOU (root of a lily lamp burned at 9 pm every evening for an hour)

CUBAN SPELL TO RETURN A RELUCTANT LOVER (love this one–pumpkin and rooster toe nails among other things for 10 days)

TO ATTRACT A WEALTHY HUSBAND (oil of turmeric rubbed on the body for five days)  If I knew it was this easy I’d tried this before.

Finally for those of us who aren’t picky:  IF YOU WISH TO ATTRACT A LOVER, BUT HAVE NO SPECIFIC PERSON IN MIND  (Burning Herbs–choice of 3 including basil catnip, lavender etc.–on a hearth or bonfire at sunset on a Saturday and doing an incantation) SO MOTE IT BE.

WICCA LOVE SPELLS/Gerina Dunwich

WHAT YOU DON’T KNOW–COULD MAKE YOUR DAY(S)

Great weekend, surprise party for a friend, Art Festival in a great town and bar hoping and late lunch early dinner in another (great) town…then Sunday I did nothing…not my usual but every once in awhile it works.

TALK ABOUT GREAT:

Today we’re going for facts that could make your day or at least your health:

AH MEN0PAUSE:  IT’S NOT JUST HOT FLASHES AND MOOD SWINGS:  it’s also arthritis and joint pain for 48% of women going through the “PAUSE”.   Something that might help:  CHICKWEED–add 20-30 drops of a tincture in your bath water for relief of joint pain and sore muscles,  (Secrets of a Natural Menopause/Edna Copeland Ryneveld)

MOST OF YOUR FISH OIL IS FROM SOUTH AMERICA:   80% comes from anchovies (Highest concentration) from a fishery in Peru.  It might be noted that the cheaper the fish oil you purchase the less actual fish product it contains with less purity and freshness than the mid- to high-grade products.  (Delicious Living, May 2014)

THE NATURAL SOURCE VITAMIN E ASSOCIATION WAS FUNDED IN 1984 in an effort to provide consumers with accurate information for natural vitamin E in vitamins and cosmetics.  This is one of the first efforts to regulate natural sources.  (Natural Organic Hair and Skin Care/Aubrey Hampton)

YOGURT & PROBIOTICS LOWERS BLOOD PRESSURE:  as well a other fermented foods, according to Australian researchers.  Consumption was for at least 8 weeks with the most help going to persons with only slightly elevated pressure.  (Journal of Hypertension)

MUSHROOMS HELP TO SUPPORT IMMUNE FUNCTIONS as well as reducing cancer risks–reishi, shitake, and maitake mushrooms are good for immunity.  Turkey tail mushrooms for cancer risks.  (The Healthy Edge/Oct. 2014)

BEESWAX CAN BE USED AS A NATURAL SUBSTITUE FOR COMMERICAL NAIL POLISH: try buffing you nails with beeswax or cocoa butter and a soft cloth.  (Nature’s Beauty Kit/Deb Carpenter)

TOMATOES ARE RED BECAUSE OF  THEIR  ANTIOXIDANTS (Carotene lycopene) .  Studies have found that an increase in lycopene may decrease risks of certain cancer–especially prostate and can also benefit heart health.  (The Healthy Edge/July 2014)

75-80% OF ALL HEADACHES ARE MUSCLE CONTRACTION OR “TENSION” HEADACHES.  More than 90% of the population get this type of headache.  Reducing and/or eliminating this type of headache may mean that you will need to “find a new way of coping with these feelings” that are causing the muscle contractions and subsequent pain.  (Headache Relief/Alan M.  Rapoport, MD and Fred D. Sheftell, MD)

PAPERTOWELS ARE BEST FOR RIDING YOUR COUNTER AND OTHER SURFACES OF MESSES.   since you only use them one time they don’t reintroduce bacteria that have been growing in their depths.  To reduce the environmental toll choose an unbleached 100% recycled variety.  (PREVENTION/Jan. 2009)

THE FIRST NATIONAL MEDICAL ASSOCIATION IN THE U.S. WAS THE AMERICAN INSTITUTE OF HOMEOPATHY IN 1844.  Homeopathy “is a 200-year-old medical system….that offers to gently stimulate …inner health resources through recognizing and reinforcing the adaptive reactions of..natural defense processes…”  (Everyone’s Guide to Homeopathic Medicines/Stephen Cummings, F.N.P. & Daa Ullman, M.P.H.)

MARCO POLO BROUGHT CHIVES  TO EUROPE WHERE HERBALISTS CLAIMED THAT EATING THEM RAW  CAUSED “EVIL VAPORS” .  They were later used to hang in bunches around homes to ward off evil spirits.  Today we just chop and sprinkle on broccoli, new potatoes, poached salmon, brown rice and grilled chicken to name a few.  Chive blossoms are good too and they can be cooked tempura-style an dipped in gingery soy sauce.  (The Good Herb/Judith Benn Hurley)
