Kingsley Plantation is a little known park in an out-of-the-way location. It is physically beautiful and emotionally evocative; in short, well worth a detour to visit. It’s part of the Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve, which probably wins the prize as Florida’s most obscure national park.     https://www.floridarambler.com/northeast-florida-getaways/kingsley-plantation-slavery-jacksonville-florida/

It was named for an early owner, Zephaniah Kingsley, who spent 25 years there.  The Kingsley family managed the plantation until 1868 when John F. Rollins bought Fort George Island and the Rollins family owned it for 55 years.

Of note are the reports of odd happenings and sighting here…I know one nurse, a very reliable down to earth lady who reports seeing a person in period costume when she approached the great house—however upon entering she found no one but park rangers in uniforms—when she questioned where the characters were she was told there was no such persons there, but as she was walking about another ranger took her aside and told her such sightings were common at the plantation house and that they had no cause to blame except ghosts, but not to mention it to the lady who had advised her she hadn’t seen anything.

I was at the Plantation Over-seer’s house ruins, a place noted for all manner of strange happenings when I was overtaken by the most horrid feeling of doom and depression (best I can describe it) and my friends were so concerned that they took me away from the plantation immediately (luckily we had stopped there on our way out).  It was a crazy feeling but with each mile we put between us and the house the more it receded until I was back to normal with no account for the attack.

There have been all manor of other sightings and strange happenings including a slave with a turban smelling gingerbread cooking.  Some have felt a sensation like ice water being poured over them and there have also been reports of beds being moved about.

Bath Abbey in north east Somerset, UK, is called the “Lantern of the West” because of the light that floods into both nave and chancel thru its large clear glass windows.
First occupied by Celtic Nuns in 676 AD (learn more about the Ancient Celtic Catholic Church in England:  http://www.giveshare.org/churchhistory/celticchurchcurrie.html   )    In 963 AD Edgar was crowned king of all England here by St. Dunstan and St. Edgar.
At the end of the 11th century it was designated a Cathedral, after which it gradually Declined and by 1476 was almost a ruin and construction on a new church was began by Bishop Oliver King in 1499 after his vision of Angels who clammered up and down ladders into heaven and a loud voice proclaimed “a King” to restore the church.

Craftsman Bungalow

During the first 3 decades of the twentieth century, the Bungalow became the most common style of residential architecture in the US.

Most displayed gently sloping gable-over gable roofs that face the street.  Bungalows employed a variety of exterior materials.  Rafter ends were usually exposed and often carved in decorative patterns to combine structure and ornament.

Have you ever been to MARAZION?

I was several years ago–we stayed in Penzance and wandered here–coming by bus (though on that trip I drove–in England and My Friend “S” in Ireland.)

This is a small village on Mount Bay and it’s big draw for tourists is  St. Michael  Mount (not to be confused with Mont -Saint-Michel in Normandy—it’s sister island.).  The town dates to the 12th c and overlooks Mounts Bay–the largest Bay in Britain.  It is Cornwall’s oldest charter town.

in medieval Europe, monarchs typically issued charters to towns, cities, guilds, merchant associations, universities, and religious institutions; such charters guaranteed certain privileges and immunities for those organizations while also sometimes specifying arrangements for the conduct of their internal affairs.   https://www.britannica.com/topic/charter-document

It has lots of sand and bunches of windsurfing and sailing centers.
