“Think like a man of action, and act like a man of thought.” – Henri L. Bergson

Today is going to be a little bit of this and a bit more of that–looking at how you can have adventures without leaving your home==can’t afford to travel entertain yourself with little things or a big party for the friends—check out how you can make the world your own or keep your memories alive and enjoyable to name just a couple.

“Even if you’re on the right track, you’ll get run over if you just sit there”
Will Rogers

I picked out some shower soap the other day and it just happened to be Yardley’s and that brought back memories—it was the 60’s and my younger sister was into lavender (a very British scent and a flower that colors the landscape both in the city and the country as well.  I remember tens to twenties to maybe hundreds of lavender based and scented products and how my sister had most of them.

Then I remembered the model that I most closely identified with the 60’s and the product:  Jean Shrimpton. (picture Ad above).  Shrimpton became the highest paying and one of the most recognized models of the 60s.   She was much prettier than Twiggy and my ideal of the proper 60’s CHICK.

Most of the 60’s memories are tinted with a bit Brit—from the Beatles who wanted to Hold Our Hands to the Stones that Couldn’t get No Satisfaction—-and so—so many groups that sang to us and inspired copy cats in a nation (ours) that was use to being the one everybody copied.

Old memories like that and much more that I could go into are a great way to educate your children, its a fun thing to do at a get together–have the girls over and all bring an object (or a picture of)  that evokes memories, that  they can tell you their memories of and get other ladies tell you how (if any) this same object —- or one similar played a part in their life.   You’ll learn a lot more about your friends and enjoy the evening without a lot of effort….I’d also include some pictures for people to pick from in case they “forgot” theirs.

I love

Mary, Queen of Scots i a 1971 British Universal Pictures biographical film based on the life of Mary, Queen of Scots, written by John Hale and directed by Charles Jarrott. Leading an all-star cast are Vanessa Redgrave as the title character and Glenda Jackson as Elizabeth I. Jackson had previously played the part of Elizabeth in the BBC TV drama Elizabeth R, screened in February and March 1971, the first episode of which was also written by Hale.

The screenplay was written by John Hale and the film directed by Charles Jarrott. Like the play by Friedrich Schiller and the opera by Gaetano Donizetti, it takes considerable liberties with history in order to achieve increased dramatic effect, in particular two fictitious face-to-face encounters between the two Queens (who never met in real life).   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary,_Queen_of_Scots_%281971_film%29

and there’s all manner of DVDs of Scottish Castles, towns etc,, etc that you can purchase:     https://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=scottish+movies+on+prime&tag=mh0b-20&index=dvd&hvadid=78134091108808&hvqmt=b&hvbmt=bb&hvdev=c&ref=pd_sl_53b8jmnsz4_b

Of course you could use French themes….or American Cowboys or Irish traditions—or pick a specific movie or book or TV show (I.e. Outlander again) and go thru the same kind of set up either big or small and have a lovely evening, even a weekend — with a few friends or with a big group—all your choice but how to enjoy something you’re interested in and not leaving the confines of home ………and you have fun so do your friends/
