Sorry but this isn’t going to be the 2003 one like I promised—-heaven knows what year and party it was—I did love my Halloween—but anyway please enjoy.   this is my memory edition of my wkly blog and I have included the movies I’ve seen some places I’ve been and the pictures of my decorating and party past.  Please enjoy I have.

No I’m not old enough to remember this, but studying and reading about it did leave a lasting impression on me and I have done more than one paper in high school and college about the incidents

 

Salem Witch Trial Victims:

A total of 19 accused witches were hanged at Proctor’s Ledge, near Gallows Hill, during the witch trials.

The others were either found guilty but pardoned, found not guilty, were never indicted or simply evaded arrest or escaped from jail.

and you know I love England and it’s history—-and since my ancestors include Petits who came to England from France I figure the Normans are in my DNA memory somewhere:
William I of England—often called William the Conqueror—set the English Throne 1066 (following a successful invasion from Normandy of England—and the death—that date is questionable according to a lot of people—of Harold II, last Anglo Saxon King) after his death of something (there are different input on what he may have died) it was with great difficulty that they attempted to push his body with its grossly swollen lower torso and legs into his intended coffin.  It is said that:  “Those who tried to force him in did so with the greatest difficulty, but to add to the horror, the body burst open and filled the church with such stench of fearful corruption that the service was concluded with great haste.”

“For Centuries, Southwark’s Borough High Street was lined with old coaching inns.   ‘Great rambling, queer old places,’ according to Charles Dickens in PICKWICK PAPERS, ‘with galleries and passages, and staircases, wide enough and antiquated enough, to furnish material for a hundred ghost stories.’  Sadly only one of them, the George Inn , survived the coming of the railroad in the 19th c, and now enjoys the distinction of being the capital’s only galleried coaching inn.  We visited here on one of our trips to the UK—-it’s fantastic.

While the inn remains a true gem of bygone London.  It is also haunted by a former landlady who is determined to keep the modern world at bay.
“Several members of the staff, who resides on the premises, have been awaken in the early hours by the misty form of a woman floating around their rooms.” (while no one is absolutely sure it has been postulated that it is Miss Murray who kept the inn for 50 years, in the later part of the 19th and early 20th century)  She seems to be especially focused on new gadgets with computers crashing for now reason and digital cameras going down and out.  I have photos of the inside (where many cameras have failed) but I was using an older type then.  Cash registers also fail, with the techs who come to fix them unable to say why
