“Wise men don’t need advice. Fools won’t take it.” – Benjamin Franklin
If you look at April, all you get is Fools and Rain (May on the other hand gets all the credit for the flower.) My month then is a bit disappointing as far as recognized achievements…but let’s look farther and see what else April can be credited with (there’s me of course).
Rain is grace; rain is the sky descending to the earth; without rain, there would be no life. John Updike
According to the UK pagan calendar April 1’s our Fools Day is Loki Day. ” Loki is a
shape shifter and in separate incidents he appears in the form of a
salmon, a
mare, a
seal, a
fly, and possibly an elderly woman named
Þökk (Old Norse ‘thanks’). Loki’s positive relations with the gods end with his role in engineering the death of the god
Baldr and Loki is eventually bound by the gods with the entrails of one of his sons.”
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loki Now that is stranger than April Fools
The first part of April is part of the Elder Tree Month and the remainder the beginning of the Willow Tree Month after the Celtic traditions as well as the end of the Falcon Moon and the beginning of the Beaver….but as a redeeming factor it is the Festival of the Roman goddess Robiga (meaning green or life) along with her brother, Robigus, who were their fertility gods. Her festival is the Robigalia and is on April 25.

So there you have it…April brings you a trickster to start with and then moves on, and after the trees, birds and beavers, the pagan origins of the month end with a fertility festival—so how do you like April so far????
Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing, wind braces us up, snow is exhilarating; there is really no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather. John Ruskin
April brought us Florida (on 2nd discovered by Ponce de Leon) and equal justice (Sandra Day Conner first woman to preside–subbing for another justice–over the supreme court on the 3rd) and equal positons (the first woman mayor was elected on the 4th in a town in Kansas).
In case you’re like me and that’s a place that has completely slipped your mind:

Tutuila, the largest island, is home to the capital
Pago Pago, whose natural harbor is framed by volcanic peaks including 1,716-ft.-high
Rainmaker Mountain. Divided between the islands
Tutuila, Ofu and Ta‘ū, the

The country of Iran holds a yearly gathering every April 1st in remembrance of the country’s Islamic Republic constitution that was officially proclaimed on 1979. It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt. Mark Twain
let’s take today for instance:
Since I love caramel and Pizza I feel that this a good day for me…but I’d rather not go broke and raisin and spice….just so so…and I can read a road map so I’m up for the day as well—-But we saved the most important to last.
Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM): The U.S. began to nationally observe the month of April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month in 2001. In 2014, President Barack Obama proclaimed the month of April as National Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention. Month, urging all Americans to support survivors of sexual assault and work together to prevent these crimes in our communities. http://www.wmcactionnews5.com/story/31646373/sexual-assault-awareness-month-day-of-action-at-uthsc FOR more information: http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/national-sexual-violence-resource-center-reveals-more-focus-and-unity-in-nationwide-sexual-assault-awareness-month-activities-70773642.html

April Love sung by Pat Boone
“April love is for the very young
Every star’s a wishing star that shines for you
April love is all the seven wonders
One little kiss can tell you this is true ”
Let the rain kiss you. Let the rain beat upon your head with silver liquid drops. Let the rain sing you a lullaby. Langston Hughes

“The roofs are shining from the rain,
The sparrows twitter as they fly,
And with a windy April grace
The little clouds go by.
Yet the back yards are bare and brown
With only one unchanging tree–
I could not be so sure of Spring
Save that it sings in me.”
– Sara Teasdale, April
A rich man without charity is a rogue; and perhaps it would be no difficult matter to prove that he is also a fool. Henry Fielding
