Oh, to be in England now that April’s there. Robert Browning

While I can’t supply England in April I am looking forward to giving it to you all in May—starting May 14 I plan to do a daily account of my trip to places like London, Nottingham, York and Edinburgh to name a few.  We will visit holy isles and the site of Dracula’s story according to Bram Stroker…We will visit Highland Lakes and lowland villages…border battlefields and lanes in the modern city of London named for the men who paraded down them in shinny armour….if you’re just visiting for the first time…or are a regular but haven’t subscribed yet don’t forget to do so–so you won’t miss my Brit inspired ramblings coming soon to a blog near you.

There is no glory in star or blossom till looked upon by a loving eye; There is no fragrance in April breezes till breathed with joy as they wander by.

The U.S. tax code was written by A students. Every April 15, we have to pay somebody who got an A in accounting to keep ourselves from being sent to jail.

AS it is April—the month of birth…I thought I’d do—yeah April.  Sorry mind is weirding out (duh–so what’s unusual about that? you ask.)  April is so me….and then some.

P.S.  Pictures are an assortment of my stuff over the ages.

When I was about ten years old, I gave my teacher an April Fool’s sandwich, which had a dead goldfish in it.

April:  The traditional etymology is from the verb aperire, “to open”, in allusion to its being the season when trees and flowers begin to “open”, which is supported by comparison with the modern Greek use of άνοιξη (ánixi) (opening) for spring.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/April

So that’s certainly an easy conclusion—it’s April–it’s spring, it’s opening….a great time of year to be alive unless you have allergies:  “Seasonal: Symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis can occur in spring, summer and early fall. They are usually caused by allergic sensitivity to airborne mold spores or to pollens from grass, trees and weeds.” http://acaai.org/allergies/types/hay-fever-rhinitis  But that’s most of the year for a lot of us so let’s just forget–or at least forgive that part of April.

And of course my month starts with a Fool’s Day—when the world conspires to make the other guy look foolish (as if this is any different than the other 365–or in the case of this year 366 days of the year), kinda an undignified– if not down right OMG why—to start out my birth month—however I managed to space myself as far from the date as possible (well I did give myself 2 days to spare so……..).  I mean a dignified person like we can’t cope with too much hilarity and non-dignified behavior you know.

So sweet love seemed that April morn. When first we kissed beside the thorn, So strangely sweet, it was not strange We thought that love could never change.

Marvin Gaye was born in April (2nd) a singer who did two songs I really love:

Ain’t No Mountain High Enough
1967
I Heard It Through the Grapevine
1968

Back in the Mo-town days, when rock was part of the whole life thing.

Eddie Murphy (3rd) Funny man and more….

Russell Crowe (7th) …the first un-American on my list–This New Zealander has   provide viewing enjoyment from Rome (Gladiator) to Sherwood (Robin Hood) and many spots in between.

Thomas Jefferson (13th) former president, signer of that Independence thing and all round over achiever.

Leonardo de Vinci (15th) —you know that dude who invented submarines and painted ceilings and argued with popes

David Tenant (18th) one in a long line of the men that played WHO.

They are all Aries (March 21 – April 19):  Aries personalities are independent. Being the first of the zodiac signs, they venture out and are go-getters, often leading the way. Their upbeat and magnetic personality often entices others to follow their lead because Aries personalities bring excitement into others lives. http://zodiac-signs-astrology.com/zodiac-signs/aries.htm Kinda  fits don’t ya think?

The rest of us famous Aprilites (Queen Elizabeth II-21st, Jack Nicholson–22nd, Shakespeare–23rd, Al Pacino–25th, Me—28th, and Willie Nelson–29th)–are all under Taurus

We Taurus Babes  have immense perseverance, even when others have given up, the Taurus rages on. Solid and persistent, just like the bull…, which is Taurus’ well suited symbol. … They like the familiar and routine comfort of life. Taurus are easy going and not one to pick a fight but should some poor souls attempt to provoke Taurus, the wrath will be known, for they have a temper underneath the calm surface. Taurus are very responsive to their surroundings. They like decorations, color, anything that appeals to all the senses. Taurus like possessions and the Taurus home is nicely decorated with lots of things.  http://zodiac-signs-astrology.com/zodiac-signs/taurus.htm

In other words we’re stubborn, deadly when crossed and have homes with bizarre colors on more than necessary items stacked about our homes in a basic hoard pattern.

But April has had other disasters beside me:  It produced Lenin (22nd) who led the Russians in the their revolution which was anything BUT bloodless and Adam Lanizo (22nd) who murdered so many children at Sandy Hook and gave us the worse monster of the last several centuries Adolph Hitler on the 20th.

and beside people being born some passed away this month.  For instance the Titantic sunk:  15 April 1912….But it is April 20–the birthday of Hitler that is down right scary for on that day

1914:  Colorado/Ludlow coal mine–20 men, woman and children were killed when the Colorado National Guard was sent in to break up a strike

1999:  The Columbine massacre left 13 dead

2010:  Deepwater Horizon, the BP oil rig in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico, exploded killing 11 and impacting environment and the lives of millions in the region.

2011:  Libya, the photojournalists Tim Hetherington and Chris Hondros were killed by a mortar shell.

Might be a day you want to hid somewhere.

April is the cruelest month, breeding Lilacs out of the dead land, mixing Memory and desire, stirring Dull roots with spring rain.
