AN OVER THREE THOUSAND YEAR OLD CELEBRATION BEGINS

Yesterday was dentist–just cleaning–and then a lunch with a close friend and then shopping at Winn Dixie (be still my heart). No work except Blog. But back to it today.

TODAY IS TAX DAY–GET THOSE FORMS IN, but though there have been taxes forever that’s not what we’re talking about (obviously as I put a celebration and if you have to pay it certainly isn’t).

Today is the first day of Passover:
“Passover, or Pesach…( listen), …is an important biblically derived Jewish festival. The Jewish people celebrate Passover as a commemoration of their liberation over 3,300 years ago by God from slavery in ancient Egypt…” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passover “G‑d saw the people’s distress and sent Moses to Pharaoh with a message: “Send forth My people, so that they may serve Me.” But despite numerous warnings, Pharaoh refused to heed G‑d’s command. G‑d then sent upon Egypt ten devastating plagues, afflicting them and destroying everything from their livestock to their crops.

At the stroke of midnight… G‑d visited the last of the ten plagues on the Egyptians, killing all their firstborn. While doing so, G‑d spared the Children of Israel, “passing over” their homes—hence the name of the holiday.” http://www.chabad.org/holidays/passover/pesach_cdo/aid/871715/jewish/What-Is-Passover.htm

If you’re really interested in the Jewish celebration I suggest this site which has everything Passover http://www.theatlantic.com/national/archive/2014/04/passover-the-jewish-holiday-for-gentiles/360608/

The Christian Church’s Easter Celebration is kinda related to all this: “What does it mean to say that Easter is related to Passover in an “historical (way)…”? In the year of His Death, Christ celebrated the Last Supper on the first day of Passover (Holy Thursday). His Crucifixion occurred on the second day (Good Friday) at the hour when the lambs were slaughtered in the Temple…” Thus, historically, Christ’s Death (and therefore His Resurrection) are related in time to the celebration of Passover.”
