WE GO FROM AN OOKY FAMILY TO A TOWN WITHOUT PITY

House bound again. I seem to get more work done if I don’t have too many distractions.
Still doing look ups on new items and pictures of items for when I go on line.
On my 2nd cup of coffee and away we go.

TODAY we’re doing another 1964 show that I have my doubts there’s a lot of collectibles, but… “This is the continuing story of Peyton Place.” The show was based on a steamy (at the time) 1956 novel by Grace Metalious and was the first prime-time soap opera set in an idyllic town with harrowing secrets.

“…was preceded by a 1957 film adaptation. A total of 514 episodes were broadcast, in black-and-white (1964 – 1966) and color (1966 – 1969). At… it’s peak ran three new episodes a week. …guest stars (that) appeared in the series for extended periods…Dan Duryea, Susan Oliver, Leslie Nielsen, Gena Rowlands, and Lee Grant, who won an Emmy Award…series served as the springboard for performers Mia Farrow, Ryan O’Neal, Chris Connelly, David Canary….Peyton Place: Part One, was released …by Shout! Factory …31 half-hour episodes…Peyton Place: Part Two…including 33 half-hour episodes…” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peyton_Place_(TV_series). In 1972, the daytime soap `Return to Peyton Place’ picked up where this story left off.

…” “Peyton Place” paved the way for such series as “Dallas,” “Dynasty” and “Desperate Housewives.” But while these increasingly outrageous programs make Peyton Place look like Mayberry…” http://articles.latimes.com/2009/may/23/entertainment/et-malone23
“…the true descendants of Peyton Place are not Dynasty and Knots Landing, but Six Feet Under and Mad Men…” http://www.avclub.com/article/why-institutional-memory-was-peyton-places-hidden-105363
