IT’S MAY, ITS MAY THE LUSTY MONTH OF MAY

A NEW MONTH:  A new start after I started my own new year only 2 days ago.  An item for good me thinks.  After my networking session and some calls from some people I’d met up with at the meeting I just worked all day and bothered people on my Facebook with more junk.  Now you’re stuck with me.

It’s May Day and some of you may even remember that there are some who dance about the May Pole today.

“The first day of the month of May is known as May Day. It is the time of year when warmer weather begins and flowers and trees start to blossom. It is said to be a time of love and romance. It is when people celebrate the coming of summer with lots of different customs that are expressions of joy and hope after a long winter. ”  http://resources.woodlands-junior.kent.sch.uk/customs/questions/mayday.htm

“May Day is related to the Celtic festival of Beltane and the Germanic festival of Walpurgis Night. May Day falls half a year from November 1 – another cross-quarter day which is also associated with various northern European paganisms and the year in the Northern Hemisphere – and it has traditionally been an occasion for popular and often raucous celebrations.”  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/May_Day

“Another English tradition is the maypole. Some towns had permanent maypoles that would stay up all year; others put up a new one each May. In any event, the pole would be hung with greenery and ribbons, brightly painted, and otherwise decorated, and served as a central point for the festivities”  May Day | Infoplease.com http://www.infoplease.com/spot/mayday.html#ixzz30TMmm6eS

“Modern May Day celebrations have evolved into a hodgepodge of traditions including parties, sing-alongs, Old World maypole dancing, parades and workers’ demonstrations, along with general protests against Big Business on the streets of major capitals worldwide.”   http://www.chiff.com/home_life/holiday/May-Day.htm

Dancing, maypoles (we won’t go into that symbolism we did sex yesterday) and a time of love works for me.
