I read somewhere the other day that you can learn the temperature outdoors by listening to a cricket chirp!  You count the number of chirps in 14 seconds, then add 37.  The sum results in the current temperature in Fahrenheit, give or take a few degrees.    I DON’T NEED  THIS–I’M IN FLORIDA–IT’S SUMMER SO IT’S HOT.

But how about some hints for having a better summer?

Save some money when the weather is hot outside by closing blinds and window coverings to keep the sun from heating up your home and the A/C working overtime and avoid using the oven to cook as it makes house hotter.

From the AAP to prevent sunburn in children are to avoid sun exposure, and dress infants in lightweight clothes that cover arms/leg and a hat to shade face.  If they must be in the sun then try (at least 15) a small amount of sun screen to the areas still exposed, http://ehealth.cooperhealth.org/2009/05/helpful-hints-surviving-summer-kids/

On long road trips make a pit stop every three hours or so to get out of the car and stretch your legs. If stops are less frequent you can perform these travel exercises (http://www.smartertravel.com/photo-galleries/editorial/in-flight-exercises-that-arent-totally-embarrassing-.htmlid=471&photo=48051&source=26627_) to increase your circulation.
Got aphids? … get some tape! Wrap a wide strip of tape around your hand, sticky side out, and pat the leaves of plants infested with aphids. Concentrate on the undersides of leaves, because that’s where the little buggers like to hide.  http://www.hgtv.com/gardening/14-simple-gardening-tips-and-tricks/index.html
