Lady’s Guide to the 17 Prettiest London Neighborhoods
I know this isn’t pretty, but I love wandering a bit off the main lines in London to roam about the less traveled and I always feel like one of these days I may just walk thru time as well as distances.

Port Quin, Cornwall
Port Quinn a town with a legend
Located near Port Issac at the head of a narrow inlet which like most of coastal Cornwall empties with the low tide.
Cornish History – Stone Age to Present Day
It is a small town with some remaining cottages and ruined fish cellars. It is said that it was once a busy, occupied fishing village—and then one day the men went out to sea into a terriable storm and none returned, or that is the explination of the village current condition—but the legend is not supported by history and so I’m not sure what really happened to the place.
The town now is a mix with some of the cottages converted into holiday lets and several that remain in a state of ongoing ruin.
Doyden Castle
On the headlands overlooking the town is this red brick
Victorian Folly
which is now a vacation let.

When the White Ship sank off the Normandy Coast on the night of 25 November 1120, all but one of the roughly 300 people on board perished. Among the dead was 17-year-old William Adelin, son and heir of Henry I of England, his death left the king with no legitiment male off spring. A new marriage failed to produce one, so he looked to his daughter to rule after him instead.
Henry’s death on 1 Dec. 1135 sparked a sucession crisis.

This Wisconsin Town is the Birthplace of the “Greatest Show on Earth”
As for Barnum, the death-defying feat the great showman pulled off was perhaps his greatest show on earth, and his last one. Lying on his death bed, the circus impressario took to wondering what his obituary would say about him, so Barnum asked the New York Evening News to publish the death notice in advance. His curosity was satisfid on 24 March 1891, when the paper headlined “Great and Only Barnum, He Wanted to Read His Obituray: Here It Is”. Two weeks later he died and was buried at Bridgeport, Conn.’s Mountain Grove Cemetery across the road from where he had erected a memorial to Tom Thumb, a forty-foot high marble shaft topped by a pint size, life size statue of the midget circus attraction who died in 1883.
