Life has no limitations, except the ones you make. ~ Les Brown
Aubrey Arms—a picture from some where in the UK—see below possibly Wales: I need to label my pictures—but this was way back when I was using film.
The name Aubrey was brought to England in the great wave of migration following the Norman Conquest of 1066. The Aubrey family lived in Brecknock, Wales, where Sir Reginald Aubrey was granted lands in 1088. The name is topographic in origin and indicates that its original bearer once lived in a place planted with elder trees. The name also may be derived from a batismal name meaning “the son of Aubrey.” In this case, the name would have been Albreda in the feminine form and Aubrey in the masculine form.

How to make proper Cornish pasties, the English hand pie that dates back centuries
The 15-Foot Wave Of Beer That Flooded London In 1814
It all started around around 4:30 in the afternoon when a clerk at a brewery in the St. Giles area of London, noted that one of the iron rings that held a huge fermentation tanks together had broken. Evidentally this type of thing occurred yearly and he was instructed to make a note of the damage to be repaired and it would be taken care of later.
Jolly Splendid London Walk Around St. Giles and Charing Cross Road
The problem was that the tank that had suffered the damage was full and the damaged area was being pressed on by hundreds (or more) pound of pressure with no relief to the already damaged ring. And this pressure continued until just a hour later when the tank burst and St. Gilees flooded with beer with a 15 foot wave of the brew that swept thru the streets. The force of the spouting hot beer took out the 25 foot brewery wall and ruptured several more tanks behind it.
In minutes, the brewery and the surrounding area (St. Giles) was under about 120,000 gallons of the dark brown beer and eight people died–several of whom had been attending a wake for a small child. The brewery managed to keep brewing after the flood, but use of these big tanks was gradually replaced with other safer forms of containment. It would move out of the area in the 1920’s and permanently out of business in the 1960’s.
Part of the brewery site is now occupied by

St. Chad’s Well
“Situated at the spot called the Island. Difficult to say why this spring bears the name of St. Chad. Over the rocks from beneath which the water comes is an inscription recording the fact that the mother of Major Frerick S. Savage, of the 68th Regiment, who died 31s March, 1866, in accordance with his wish, improved the spring and erected the memorial to him. The place does not seem to have been called St. Chad’s Well until the above date, and it is not so named either in the tithe map or in old deeds. Tongue notes “General Tonic and Curative Purposes” here.

It contains Fort Dade which dates to 1900 and was put there during the Spanish American War. There is also a light house here–the sixth brightest in Florida.
,
Egmont Key – Fort Dade – Egmont Key Lighthouse
The light house is still active —the original facility was destroyed by a hurricane in 1848, only a few months after its completion. The island itself was said to be been completely covered by the hurricane generated waves– The lighthouse keeper and his family were said to have rode out the storm on the island in a boat attached to some trees (that were submerged but did not break or uproot) The light house was restored in 1849, but I never heard if the original lighthouse keeper and his family returned or not—my bet would be NOT.
