Ok today I’m sharing a tour that we took in Ireland—-that gave us all manner of freedom—-Only one catch you have to be willing to drive
I gave you the info above from the tour I took many years ago—-so you might want to check it out—–and I’ll give you some of the details.
I don’t remember how I found this government service in Ireland but it was a great thing—You tell them detail, like what cities and points of interst you’re interested in—-then they make reservations for hotels—-There is (or at least wasn’t at that time for the goverment’s agency’s work on this —they also do direction on how to get about on their lovely isle—make your reservations etc. When you’re done you have a booklet with directions, information on the area including history of area etc…..along with this is vouchers (and they get you good rates as well—or at least they did us) for the hotel rooms which they booked for you—you pay them for the rooms they reserve) Vouchers for the hotels are included and you give that—to the hotel, B&B whatever,—-and you’re all set—I was very impressed with thir work on this—a couple years later I had a friend ask about my trip—I gave her this information and her hubby and her were very happy with their personalized tour as well.
We of course took a bit unconventional set up as we had been wandering about the UK for a few day—-switching to a rental car in Cornwall and into Wales—-then taking a train supposedly to the coast—but the train personnel put us on the wrong train ending in them having to provide transportation to our intended situation (would you believe the four of us on a Big black cab for 2 hours to the Welsh Coast where we caught the ferry to Ireland and ended up in Wexford—pretty much on schedule.
There we turned over our Voucher and checked in. The manager who often came to Florida for vacations didn’t know why we would leave sunny and warm Florida for often damp and cloudy Ireland—it was my 2nd trip to Ireland–the rest of the groups’ first. We by the way picked up the car at the Ferry Docks and rode on to our hotel that way. We did the car on our own but it was an American rental company that of course is around the world.
Things to Do in Wexford this Summer
We really didn’t get in with much energy or time to do much in Wexford which like a lot of coastal Irish Towns and even Dublin was originally
and so we left Wexford taking the N25 into
Waterford
Waterford: Discover the treasures
Then its N24 to
Cahir Castle
Once the stronghold of the powerful Butler family, retains its impressive keep, tower, and much of its original densive structure. It is one of of Ireland’s largest and best preserved Castles In Ireland
They provide the driving directions and what’s possible to see along the way…..I’m quoting a bit of what they gave on some of the places—also giving you a site on line in case you want to know more about it.
The guide also has all kinds of info:
Passports: Passports are not required by British citizens born in the United Kingdom and traveling from Britain, identification may b needed. Citizens of European Union states and Switzerland may use a passport or national idenity card. All other nationalities must have a passport.
Tipping: Tipping is not expected in Bars unless table services is supplied. Howeever, it is usual to give a 10 percent tip in taxis and restaurants. Be aware that some hotels and restaurants automatically add affixed seervice fees to your bill.
So that’s just a bit of what you get when you go to the Irish when it comes to seeing all the things worth seeing—like I said this was our choice of area and cities and I just gave you a small sampling of what they provide and a little of what they provide to help your vacation.
Irish Things: The Ultimate Top 20 List
I might add that we had a wonderful visit, our hotels were all lovely and very much to our liking….I would recommend that you check with them when you start your planning of a trip to Ireland.
Oh and please be sure that you’re only picking places to visit etc in the Republic of Ireland with this source—I have no idea if Northern Island has the same services available—I should look I’d like to visit there as well one Day.
