If you would like to see all three floors of this architectural gem and enjoy a guided tour of every room of the Mansion there are only two more months left to do so. This is our last season offering historic tours. No Historic Tours in the future are planned. If the third floor of the Mansion was on your bucket list then this is your last chance to see it!
We will devote our time to the most spectacular Christmas tours ever and our own personal growth.
In the future we will look forward to welcoming guests to our annual “Christmas Spectacular!” Tour times and tickets will be posted July 15th.

In fact JT and I both wrote books about our story. We secretly wrote them on a cruise in 2013 and did not tell each other the contents until they were published. Ipswich Museum
“The Ipswich Female Seminary Revisited”
The Ipswich Museum oversees three historical homes: The Whipple House (1677), The Heard House (1795-1800), and the Alexander Knight House. We offer guided tours on a seasonal basis.

The museum has Replicas of the Roman Halls. as well as Anglo Saxon Jewellery and other artifacts
Potteries in Ipswich
The town was founded in the 7th c and centered near the quay when Fresian potters from the Netherland settled here and set up the first large scale potteries in England since Roman times. The pottery was traded far across England and this industty was unique to the area for 200 years.
Buttermarket Ipswich
By 720 AD a large new part of town was laid out in the Buttermarket area. It is interesting to note that part of the ancient road plan still survives in the modern street plans.

In the 9th century the Vikings arrived and took over the town and it is thought that earthen ramparts which circled the town were raised by these same Vikings to hold the city against the English.

By the late 10th century the city was back with the English and in the 970’s King Edgar had a mint established here which was continued under the Normans until the time of King John in 1215.

The Shrine Our Lady of Grace of Ipswich
During the middle ages the Shrine of Our Lady of Grace was a famous pilgrimage destination, which attracted many pilgrams including Henry VIII & Katherine Argon. At the start of the Reformation the shrine was taken to London to be burned.
Thomas, Cardinal Wolsey: English cardinal and statesman
Thomas Wolsey was born here in 1475, a son of a butcher. He would found a college in the town in 1528.
August 31 – An Ipswich Martyr
Henry VIII’s oldest Daughter Mary’s reign saw the burnings of potestants on Cornhill for their beliefs. There is a monument to them in Christ Church Park.
