HAUNTED ST. AUGUSTINE
Since I love history St. Augustine has always been a favorite since I moved to Florida in the 70’s. It is a great place to spend a day or a week–lots to see lots to do and great restaurants and accommadations:
There is so much to see in this ancient city—a Spanish Fort complete with an area in the bowels of the building were they found a skelton bricked up in one of the inner walls. The earliest settlement for Free-Blacks in what would eventually become the USA. The old town street where shops set in buildings much earlier than most places you’ve ever been at in the USA. A church which contains the Industrialist Henry Flagler that built the first railroad down Florida’s east coast from Jacksonville to Key West—-as well as his first wife—he had three—the 2nd one supposedly crazy, but given his money and influence the state of Florida (yes the law makers) granted him a divorce from her. He married one more but when he passed he ask to be buried in the church he had had built in St. Augustine—his daughter who died in childbirth and that child are also buried in the church as well as he and the first wife.
Famous Floridians: Henry Morrison Flagler
Founded in September 1565 by Don Pedro Menendez de Aviles of Spain, St. Augustine is the longest continually inhabited European-founded city in the United States – more commonly called the “Nation’s Oldest City.”
Visit St. Augustine and dive into more than four centuries of history that owes much to the Spanish and English, to Greeks and Native Americans and African Americans.

But I think some of my greatest fun was just wandering about the town…My sister and her husband lived in St. Augustine for a few years and I spent some time exploring the town on my own and just wandered about the neighborhoods and saw all maner of interesting things off the usual tourist tracks—-but then I have always insisted I was always a travler and never that other T word.

THE GIRL’S GUIDE TO GHOST HUNTING IN ST. AUGUSTINE
Marine Street’s lovely, quiet block betwen St. Franciss and Bridge Streets has one of St. Augustin’s finest collection of Colonial buildings, now mostly private residences and quaint inns. Two of St. Auguatine’s mayors lived in the small “Mayor’s House” (#67), built of coquina just before the Civil War. Note the coquina chimney and that the weather boarrding on the domers runs at a 45-degree angle instead of straight across, typical of the period.

The stately—striped lighthouse on Anastasia Island at the entance of St. Augustine’s inlet in northeastern Florida is probably the most visually striking of Florida’s lighthouses. Like the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in North Carolina, the Anastasia Island tower’s black-and-whte helioxes resemble a huge barberpole, clearly different from the solid towers in Amelia Iland and Mayport to the north and Ponce de Leon Inlet to the south.

Visiting St. Augustine, Fl/The Castillo de San Marcos Fort
In contrast to state-of-the-art Orlando and other, more commercial parts of Florida, historic St. Augustine, situated between Jacksonville and Daytona Beach, is a quaint city. And when we say historic, we mean it—St. Augustine is the oldest city in America. And though it’s a coastal community, the best parts are inland, where you’ll find cobblestone streets, colonial architecture, and horse-drawn carriage tours of the area’s many-storied landmarks. This casual and culturally rich little city is family-friendly and famous for its ideal weather.

Nottingham Halloween Trail
The city of Nottingham started out life as a 6th-century Saxon village. History shows that it was originally known as ‘Snotta inga ham’, which means ‘the village belonging to Snotta’.
The city’s location at a crossing point on the River Trent made it an attractive proposition for many potential settlers, including the Danes. In the late 9th century AD, they took control of Nottingham, fortifying it with a rampart and palisade. A century later, the Anglo-Saxons recaptured Nottingham and built a bridge across the river. HALLOWEEN IN LAS VEGAS 2021
Halloween for adults is still all about the sugar. We’ve just traded in the mini Kit Kats for sweet shots and plenty of eye candy. And it just wouldn’t be Vegas without the chance to win some money. All over the Las Vegas Strip, clubs and casinos hold costume contests doling out more money than you could stuff into a little plastic jack-o-lantern. We don’t care if your costume is tasteful or trashy, a cartoon character or kinky clubwear, as long as you’ve come to party. Featuring plenty of Vegas hotels dripping with spooky ambiance for the occasion, haunted attractions and plenty of thrills, you’re sure to find a treat. We’ll just leave the tricks up to your imagination
