Corstorphine’s Ghosts:
The White Lady: Lady Christian Nimms (d 1679). Niece of Lord James Forrester of the Castle. The Laird was evidentally the lover of many women including the lady in question his married niece according to legend. Word is that they often met secretly at a tree on the grounds, then one night he no-showed and she sent the servant to get him at the nearby Black Bull Inn, evidentally a go to site for him. He didn’t appreciate her intervention with his drinking and a serious verbal battle took place and the young lady took it a few step further, retreaving a sword and running him thorough. She was arrested and tried in Edinburgh where she claimed self defense but to no avail and she was found guilty and eventually was taken to Edinburgh cross wearing all in white and then beheaded. Yes and that’s where you get the lady all in white and carrying a bloody sword, though I do not remember if she was headless or not and besides she has probably left the building as—–the castle remains no longer do—remain that is.
